3. Knowledge management

Knowledge management is a new field that, while growing, has many different definitions.

Knowledge is basically defined as understanding or information about a subject that has been gained through experience or study. It can be in a person’s mind. It can also be possessed by a group of people or by an organization.

Managing knowledge includes a number of activities including (but not limited to) identifying, capturing, creating, representing, sharing, distributing, using, reusing, and enabling its adoption or application.

It typically focuses on organizational objectives such as improving performance, competitive advantage or innovation. Here, knowledge becomes an essential organizational asset. It thereby makes sense that such organizational knowledge should be captured through, for example, best practices and lessons learned.

Earthly Communications can apply knowledge management to assist you in managing the essential information of your entire project, from identification to dissemination and use. We can also help you capture and communicate your organizational knowledge assets.
