The European Environment State and Outlook Report 2010 (SOER 2010)

  • Organization: European Environment Agency (EEA) (Agency of the EU). Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Purpose: This is the EEA´s flagship product, launched every five years. SOER 2010 provided a set of assessments of the current state of Europe’s environment (39 countries), its likely future state, what is being done and what could be done to improve it, how global megatrends might affect future trends… and more.
  • My role: Overall coordination of communications and editing, including serving as a lead author for its Synthesis Report, and writing and editing summaries for thematic assessments. SOER 2010 included three main parts, over 1 million words, and numerous assessments, documents and summaries.

Global Environmental Outlook (GEO) 2000, Chapter 3: Policy Responses, Europe and Central Asia

  • Organization: United Nations Environment Programme
  • Purpose: “The most authoritative assessment ever of the environmental crisis facing humanity in the new millennium.”
  • My role: Chief Editor for Chapter 3, with contributions from key environmental institutions throughout Europe and Central Asia.

  • Organization: Global Water Partnership
  • Purpose: Presents guidelines to Central and Eastern European countries for preparing drought management plans as required by the EU Water Framework Directive.

  • Purpose: Presents the approach of a Europe-wide project developed to meet the challenge of Europe´s rural workers making income from the countryside, while protecting the environment.

  • Purpose: Weekly environment news and analysis journal for business and policy professionals.
