Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS)

• Organization: European Environment Agency (EEA) (Agency of the EU). Copenhagen, Denmark

• Purpose: SEIS was created to improve the collection, exchange and use of environmental data and information across Europe. EEA has a programme of staff working on SEIS and SEIS-related initiatives.
• My role: As Communications Manager, improve understanding of SEIS externally and among EEA staff.
• Strategic approach:
  • Analysis of existing SEIS-related communications and discussions with EEA staff.
  • Produced and implemented a programme Communication Strategy with outputs such as project briefings, website, social media, presentations (e.g. for EU policy-makers), press releases and articles.
  • Led communications for the new Eye on Earth global online public environmental information service, developed in partnership with Microsoft and Esri. This included developing and making presentations at European and global fora, and co-managing a social media site.
